New Hope Hospice in Laughlin, Nevada currently services the tri-state area and will be honoring Volunteers with a special luncheon

Laughlin, NV April, 2010:  New Hope Hospice Staff, Mayors Hakim, Salem, Williams & Town Manager Brady, will take part in honoring a special group of area volunteers with an Appreciation Luncheon held at Laughlin Ranch on Saturday, April 24th between 11 am and 1 pm.

New Hope Hospice Volunteers will be treated to a luncheon and gift drawings donated by area businesses including Laughlin Ranch, Desert River Kayak, Sunridge Village, Laughlin Experience,  McCormick Realty, Avi Casino, Hertz Rental Car, Jewels In A Basket,  Aquarius Casino,  Fort Mohave Florist, Off Road Diner,  Davis House, Mohave Resort Golf Club, Colorado River Concert Association, Shear Hair Design, and The Pioneer Casino. Gift bags are also being given to every volunteer filled with items from Valley View Medical Center, Farm Bureau Financial, Colorado River Tees, and Mohave State Bank. The attendees will then be given passes by Laughlin Ranch to utilize the facilities on property. “This is the one really great thing we can do to give back to these awesome individuals. I have been inspired to see the local community give such great support for this event, through the generosity of the above mentioned gifts” states Kim Cool – Volunteer & Community Services Representative for New Hope Hospice.

New Hope Hospice Volunteers give freely of their time throughout the year providing office help, companionship, respite, and running errands for patients and their families. National Volunteer Week 2010 honors those who dedicate themselves to building a better world (as is the theme for the luncheon this year), and bettering their communities. It’s also inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people who seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities and put themselves at the center of social change.

National Volunteer week was established in 1974 by former President Richard Nixon and has grown exponentially each subsequent year, with literally thousands of volunteer projects and special events scheduled throughout the week. And with President Obama’s 2009 endorsement of the Serve America Act (www.bethechangeinc.org) and his call on Congress to support this vital piece of legislation, this year will be even more energizing and inspiring.
