OUTLYING DESERT COMMUNITIES WILL FINALLY RECEIVE HOSPICE SERVICES

By Alice Gibson

California residents living on the shores of the Colorado River and in the desert area from Needles to Blythe have desperately needed in-home hospice.  No longer will dying loved ones have to be transported across the river to another state to die with the dignity provided under hospice care.  New Hope Hospice has arrived.

Headquartered in St. Louis MO, (www.yourtrustedpartner.com) this independent hospice organization has responded to the urgent need of river area residents who live in what is California’s never-land when it comes to provision of health care services.  New Hope Hospice is tri-state certified by Medicare/Medicaid to offer services in Nevada, Arizona and California.  They are currently recruiting local professionals and volunteers to accommodate patients – among them the many retirees and snowbirds who have migrated to the California shores of Needles, Havasu Landing, Big River and Blythe. Those who wish to draw their last breath in their homes may rest assured that New Hope Hospice is now available in this remote part of San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

For years residents of this area have appealed to the various visiting nurse associations and hospice organizations to consider extending their boundaries to provide services.  The Joshua Tree and Palm Desert hospices were unable to respond due to travel constraints.  Although within the 50-mile geographical radius for the provision of care by Hospice of Havasu, that agency’s attempts to include these California communities as an Arizona hospice provider were not successful on an interstate basis.  The advent of a tri-state provider is a godsend to these communities.

New Hope Hospice will work hand in hand with local entities, professionals and volunteers to provide care for residents.  They currently maintain offices locally in Henderson and Laughlin NV.  California residents may contact New Hope Hospice Toll Free at 866-335-4673.
